Why We Give at Year End

Tina and I have been blessed as custodians, not owners, of certain assets of the Lord's to share with nonprofits who do so much good in the communities of Eastern Iowa. Each year as the months come to an end, we are alert to contribute gifts before the Dec. 31 year-end. Though our purpose is first to be generous, we have also recognized considerable tax savings by contributing shares of stocks that have had significant appreciation.

The Dubuque Franciscans have a fond place in our hearts. I was educated by them in Dubuque, and often visited my sister, Sr. Rose Marie, at Mount St. Francis and Clare House. Giving is very rewarding!
